Now these are really rare and hardly ever appear at all. I found that a card of 26. J.C. Lane (Millwall) had sold on eBay recently – for £56.09 – and I managed to snag the photograph.

UPDATE: Final Filshill “Footballer” found
I have at last managed to find an image of the last Filshill “Footballer” card of the 1924 set, that of David Jack of Bolton Wanderers. So I now have all twenty-five although, truth be told, the one of Frank Barson is so poor as to barely pass muster. If you have a better one can you please ping me an image?

1923 Crescent “Footballers” card added
Three days on the spin now I have managed to add pictures from cards found on eBay. Today’s card shows Notts County’s Leonard Barry, and it surprisingly fetched only £50 despite appearing to be in very good order indeed.

UPDATE: Three more Crescent “Sportsmen”
And yet again eBay has come up trumps as I found three cards from this set having sold recently. Dealer Lee Graves will be rubbing his hands as they sold as follows: Kennedy (Reading) £265.00; Harkness (Midlothian) £343.00; and Alec. James (Arsenal) £844.25

UPDATE: Two more Crescent “8th Series of 10” footballer images added
eBay is proving very productive at the moment as I search for missing images, although the pictures are of not particularly good cards; age has certainly not helped them. The two latest editions are McMullen of Manchester City and Sheffield United’s Billy Gillespie.
